mother-daughter team/bridgforth and perryman have come
together to create this 14 track cd that: articulates the experiences of lesbian mother-straight daughter/urban raised
southern Spirited Black American wy’mn/growing; blending music and vocal styles-both sung and spoken; innovating a word
based music driven jazz/story; using the personal/to articulate and examine the spaces between and connecting autobiography
and mythology/memory.
sonja perryman
in december of 2003 perryman
will graduate from nyu’s tisch school of the arts/drama. perryman performed in nyu mainstage productions of cafe
cantantes and tegggoni. both productions fused dance, song and non-linear text/which is the kind of theatre that perryman
is most passionate about. besides singing and acting perryman enjoys: international travel; learning languages; meeting
new friends; and spending time with family - all of which she considers part of her artistic training. perryman learned
to speak Spanish fluently as an exchange student in Venezuela, has studied dance in Cuba, and spent a semester in Florence,
Italy with la pietra, nyu. after graduation perryman plans to pursue a career in theatre.

Spirited Black American women/growing.
amniotic/flow is expressed through the integration of spoken word/vocal
orchestration/and music in a theatrical setting/giving voice to jazz. the original text was developed under the direction
of daniel alexander jones.
bridgforth and perryman will present this work
in celebration of their newly released cd produced by allgo (the austin Latina/Latino lesbian gay bi-sexual transgender organization)
and lisa bryd.
