Farewell

Posted at January 27, 2006 02:08 PM in Television .

Ph_robertjohnson200130thFounder Robert L. Johnson officially stepped down from BET after 25 years with the network.  Eariler this month, on January 11, 2006, Bob Johnson was recognized by The American Advertising Federation (AAF) for originating the nation's most recognized and successful African-American cable television company.  Yes, very successful, very Black owned and now, no longer in our hands.

On January 23, 2006, Debra L. Lee, already CEO of Viacom, Inc. subsidiary BET Networks, was elevated to the rank of Chairman effective immediately.  Lee assumes the reins of chairman as BET Founder Robert Johnson officially ended his employment with the company.

There is an interesting article out there on What is Bob Johnson Up To.  It's interesting and, well, it's interesting.

The article on Robert L. Johnson exposes him for the rich piece of spoiled meat that he is. It also makes clear why BET was NEVER in OUR hands. Now BET's negative Black programming makes sense.
