Deadline: August 1, 2003
The Entergy Charitable Foundation is a philanthropic
program of Entergy Corporation ( http://www.entergy.com/ ), an energy
company serving customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. The foundation was founded to focus on supporting
nonprofit organizations that serve low-income populations in Entergy Corporation's service area. Since this area encompasses
some of the poorest communities in the United States, the foundation's central focus is on funding initiatives that help create
and sustain thriving communities.
The foundation seeks to fun programs that provide for innovative and
measurable ways to positively impact families and their ability to support those most vulnerable, the children, and the elderly.
Such programs should emphasize sustaining families and self- sufficiency, technical assistance and training for nonprofits,
housing; home-ownership preparation, energy management and awareness, and innovative use and promotion of alternative sources
of energy. Funding is also provided for education and literacy grants.
The foundation funds nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under
section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Schools, hospitals, governmental units, and religious institutions that hold
nonprofit status similar to that of 501(c)(3) organizations may also be eligible.
Complete program information and applications for ECF grants can be obtained by logging on to Entergy's Web site.
