Black Lesbian Support Group

Who are the Women of BLSG:

The Black Lesbian Support Group (BLSG) was established in 1990 to provide a positive medium through which Black Lesbians may communicate with each other. BLSG offers supportive services and interaction in the Lesbian and Gay community. BLSG strives to increase the visiblity of black lesbians in the Lesbian and Gay community. BLSG is a non-profit organization funded through the Lesbian Services Program of the Whitman-Walker Clinic in Washington DC. BLSG is rapidly growing and expanding. Our goal is to reach as many Black lesbians as there are in the Washington-DC Metropolitan area.

The primary focus of BLSG is:

Peer support, through group discussions on topics relevant to Black lesbians.
Fostering positive friendships between and among women through social/cultural activities.

Providing educational forums and workshops that are designed to enhance awareness and interest in the lesbian community.

Providing a safe space for Black Lesbians to meet, talk and socialize together. To keep our members informed, BLSG has a confidential mailing list. BLSG does not sell or trade their list with other Lesbian or gay groups and organizations.
