Legislative Black Caucus Conference To Address Civil Rights For Gays

Unprecedented Panel Features Black Caucus and the LGBT Caucus Members and Special Guest Speaker Reverend James Lawson

LOS ANGELES, CA – The California Legislative Black Caucus Conference will convene a panel discussion entitled “Is Gay Civil Rights a Black Issue?” on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Los Angeles Airport Westin Hotel located at 5400 Century Boulevard. The event is free and open to the public and will feature Legislative Black Caucus Chair Assemblyman Mervyn M. Dymally (D-Compton), Senator Kevin Murray (D-Los Angeles), Assemblyman Jerome Horton (D-Inglewood), Senator Sheila Kuehl (D-Santa Monica), Palm Springs Mayor Ron Oden, Berkeley City Councilman Darryl Moore, Long Beach City Councilwoman Laura Richardson, and special guest civil rights leader Reverend James Lawson. Supported by the National Black Justice Coalition, the panel is co-chaired by Jasmyne Cannick and Victoria King.
