About Our Black LGBT Organizations

A number of our organizations, as in Black LGBT
organizations, have suffered greatly over the years. We had the National Coalition of Black
Lesbians and Gays, founded in 1978 by A. Billy S Jones and Dolores Berry in Columbia, MD. NCBG
provided political representation and activism for African-American gays and
lesbians at a national level. In 1979, it was one of the organizers of the
Third World Conference for gays and lesbians of color and lobbied successfully
for the first gay and lesbian March on Washington.
Blacklight Online features a well documented historical
run-down of the NCBLG, its highs and lows during its ten plus years of
operation. The following is a telling of
the organizations' demise.

To begin at the end of Rev. Irene Monroe?s article, I can
say wholeheartedly I can relate to these words:
In the African American community you grow up hearing your
parents admonishing you about disclosing family secrets with them saying, ?What
goes on in this house, stays in this house!? But many of them have broken the
sacred racial code of silence by throwing their kids out of the house.

So much has been said and speculated recently about the Isaiah Washington controversy. I was interviewed last week on KJLH, 102.3 FM, a Los Angeles based radio station to discuss Isaiah and the use of the ?F-word? slur targeted towards the gay community.
Attached to this message is a link to listen to the radio interview with host, Adai. You will hear callers both for and against Isaiah Washington?s actions as well as comments from some callers who were just plain sick and tired of gays ranting and raving over what they perceived to be nothing.

TMZ.com On Beyonce: Roboho

We just can?t seem to escape the word ho. It?s everywhere we go. It?s blaring from the speakers in the cars that pass us by on the street. It?s coming out of the mouths of the kids that walk past our homes and offices. Occasionally some white shock jock uses it to refer to a group of women basketball players and then there?s the Internet and infotainment media.
In its recap of the BET Music Awards held on Tuesday in Los Angeles, popular Internet site TMZ.com described recording artist Beyonce?s choice of outfit as ?roboho,? and this was among other things.
