. . . for a hamburger today. Yes, like Wimpy, I love burgers and trying to find a good burger in California is somewhat like looking for a needle in a haystack. Thankfully, there are a few good burgers in town and I give kudos to a particular site on the web for their assistance in helping me find a few good burgers.

If you are a member of the Wimpy club — burger lover — this website will not only help you find the best burger in town, they will also provide you with photos, ambiance, pricing and yes, a eye-spy view of all of the condiments within. Are the fries fresh and crunchy or could you do without them? The beauty of this site is they answer that question as well.

The site is A Hamburger Today and it’s a weblog about “America’s national dish—the hamburger! We offer a delicious mix of news digests, reviews, videos, and musings on all things burger-related.”

On the sidebar is a drop down allowing you to browse burger establishments by location. Of course, I am always looking for places in Southern California and they have made the tour of SoCal an easy one because they have done it. It is also nice to know that when traveling you can return to the site to seek out local establishments.

My favorite establishment in Pasadena is, hands down, Burger-N-Pie and as can be seen in the attached image, you are given an up close and personal view of the burger, the menu and the establishment.

Another wonderful feature is what I call the “quick-and-dirty” list which provides you with all of the particulars:  the location, telephone numbers, how the burger is prepared, condiments, etc.  Love that!

For me, the top places for burgers on my side of town are In-N-Out Burger and Pie-N-Burger.  However, I cannot wait to make my way over to another popular establishment, Apple Pan.

After seeing the film “Burgertown“ and watching the preparation of the famous Apple Pan burger, I knew my next planned trip into Los Angeles will also include a stop at the Pan.  I cannot wait to belly up to that burger bar.

Unfortunately, since I cannot eat as much red meat as I used to, these trips to burger establishments are few and far between but it is nice to know I have a trusted source for burgers on the web.  Thankfully, they have done all of the tasting and so far I have agreed with many of their recommendations.  It helps me cut the waste of time spent in so-so or ugh establishments and concentrate my taste buds more on something more pleasurable to the senses.  Oh, and while I’m at it, you will also enjoy the writing here, fanciful and mouth watering.
