I’d like to say, You hit it on the head with Michael, I’m a nurse and have done my own investigation. He had vertiligo, they recommend that as the skin color fades to white that they tatoo; eyebrows ,mouth, and eyes. He did not bleach is skin but even the dark skin pigmentation to the skin that had no pigmentation. I believe, he had lupus, and under severe outbreaks he would recieve IV therapy doses of steriods which in turn would effect veinous access if this was frequent. I believe he could of also had fibromyalgia. In one interview he was complaining of back pain. I wasn’t quiet sure about the burn, I’ve never worked with burn patients, I’m sure he was in constant pain; from nerve endings in the head damaged. I believe he did have lung damage from lupus or from steriod side effect. I read that he tried to stay health due to medical problems. I agree with you, I think it had arthritis. Which can be very painful in itself. I think the lupus did cause some craters in his face which had to be repaired. The question long term effect of going to the plastic surgeon I’m sure was more harmful. All in all, this was a human being that a severe medical condition which also can cause drug dependence no matter how hard he tried to kick the habit the odds were against him. It’s a sad world we live in. I pray for his child that they will not believe the haterd they hear or read about him.

Such insightful comments. It is so sad that Michael suffered with these infirmities, but nothing seemed to slow him down; the US media was merciless with him, even with no substantiated evidence of any wrongdoing, they were out to bring him down. He caused waves for Sony Entertainment, very tough to take on such a giant company, but Michael was unafraid of the repercussions. There are some comments as to taping his fingers and wearing arm and knee guards. I heard that his taped fingers were to call attention to the suffering in this world, same for the arm brace. He pounded his knees so much in his tours that he probably wore the knee brace for protection. His entire life is such an enigma at this point. From such a large family of seemingly somewhat inconsequential individuals, and then, Michael, this shining genius beacon of love and compassion, when, let’s face it, all the others were mediocre and rather ordinary, even when they were with the J5. Only Michael stood out even in his youngest days. RIP MJ

I am quite lucky that I have been blessed with good health. I would just like to commend you for your honesty. Telling us that what Michael COULD possibly have had. Not making it a statement declaring something you are not sure of. Putting the information of lupus out there for us to assimilate. So we might better understand what he might have suffered from. Complimenting Michael for his wisdom in how he might have taken his problems and masked them. He took lemons and made lemonade with what might have plaqued him during his life. He made all of his problems part of his work of art. Some saw it as pure brilliance. Others attacked him as being strange. For the later it is only because they could not think so exclusively in their own right. So they ostrasized Michael for his unique qualities Their salebrosity and algid nature only show their ignorance of a true master and professor of courage. I again commend you for your honesty. Enlightening us to what could have been a few of his lifes ills and what they might have cost him. Michael trudged on despite of it all. I wish you peace in your quest to find a cure to what has plaqued you. Many Blessings to you!

You know you mentioned that Michael would not have taken steroids because it causes one to bloat and he wouldn’t have wanted that. Well do a search of pictures. I have several that does show him with a much fatter face and I remember thinking when I saw them that he had either gained weight or was having a reaction to medication.

He probably did try the steroids then, to help his lupus but it ended up causing the bloating as you described.

I never believed Michael was guilty of anything. He was too kind and sweet of a soul to harm anyone. You can truely see who an artist is from his or her work. All one has to do is listen to Michael’s songs to know what was important in his life. He was a normal heterosexual male who loved the Earth and saw children as wonderful little human beings that needed protection and care. This would be clear to anyone who really paid attention to what he did, said and sang about.

We love you in Canada Michael and we wish you were still here with us. The world has lost an angel.

Personally, after my experience two weeks ago when I ended up dropping prednisone for four days, I understand why someone would be an extreme drug addict. I understood too well what prednisone was masking. I had excruciating pain, extreme fatigue and yes, if I were the type who wanted to overcome the effects of dropping this drug I too would have looked for Demerol (or any pain med) and uppers (50 bottles of Coke or 50 cups of coffee) and a downer before going to bed. That would have been my way of self medicating.

As for coming out with lupus, many will not fearing repercussions or discrimination. It’s okay and accepted if your are a bit eccentric (part of being an artist), a drug addict (part of being an artist), or flamboyant (part of being an artist) but not diseased. Handlers might have warned against talking about his disease at length fearing underwriters will not take on your concerts fearing you will not complete them. I’ve had physicals all of my life and no one ever saw lupus until my kidneys failed.

My daughter who is 18 years old haves lupus. Lupus is a serious disease that doesn’t get attention like cancer. Oh why michael jackson did you not come out that you have lupus, that would have spread lupus awareness. MY opinion is that I think Michael jackson had SLE (LUPUS). They played a song that was not yet released by Michael jacksonthat was named demerol, demerol was under pain medication for lupus when I was trying to find something to help my daughter. With SLE your under major joint and muscle pain, I see my daughter. Remember with discoid lupus your not under any pain just attacks you skin that’s a mild type of lupus. So anyway he had a song called demerol, this is a good pain medicine for lupus but with major side effects if you take to much and in some people it can cause cardic arrest. Michael jackson had so many symptoms of Sle (LUPUS), He wore a wig, with lupus your hair falls out sometimes, please don’t tell me that pepsi commercial burn I know that but he had lupus and the mask he didn’twant to catch germs with the medicines your immune system is supressed. and so many more that points to sle. I just wished he would have not taken alot of the medicines that have a lot of side effects. Have you thought about why he couldn’t sleep and why did he have a cocktail of so many pain medicines because he had lupus SLE and so did anna nicole smith In my opinion I could be wrong I think they did.
